Abstract

Diarrhea is one ofthe highest incidence diseases in the world and is the leading cause of 1-3 years of child mortality. Children 1-3 years old is a golden period which is very important to keep monitoring their growth. If They are suffered from any infection during this period including diarrhea, it causes disruption in their growth.  .This research is aimed to out the correlation between the incidence of diarrhea in under third children with mother’s attitude about hygiene and sanitation behavior and Exclusive breastfeeding in the Grogol Petamburan Public Health Center West Java.This Research uses analitycal descriptive survey method with cross-sectional approach to find out the correlation between the incidence of diarrhea in under third children with mother’s attitude about hygiene and sanitation behavior and Exclusive breastfeeding . The sample is a mothers who have children aged 1-3 years old, total sample is 65 respondent. The instrument is questioner and to analyze the correlation between variable is using Chi-Square. As a results of bivariate analysis, it is shown that there was significant correlation between diarrhea in 1-3 years old children with mother’s attitude about hygiene and sanitation (p-value = 0,047, OR(95%CI) =3,2 (1.139-8.992))  , but was not correlatiaon between diarrhea with exclusive breastfeeding (p-value = 0,068, OR(95%CI) =3,438 (1.061-11.132)). In sum, The conclusion, there is an correlation between diarrhea in 1-3 years old children with mother’s attitude about hygiene and sanitation. It is recommended to mothers of children 1-3 years old to pay attention in their personal hygiene and sanitation when taking care of their children to prevent diarrhea transmission.
