Relationship Between Nutritional Status, Physical Activity and Stress Level with Menstrual Cycle among Female Nutrition Students Universitas Pembangunan Nasional

Abstract


Menstrual cycle is the distance between the first menstruation and the next menstruation. Menstrual cycle disorders are abnormalities that occur in the menstrual cycle, such as excessive or too little bleeding, irregular menstrual cycle, or even not having menstruation. There were several factors that can affect menstrual cycle disorders. This study was aimed to find out the relation between nutritional status, physical activity, and stress level with menstrual cycle on Nutrition Science female college students at Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta. This study was a quantitative research by using a cross sectional design. Stratified random sampling was used and 66 respondens were randomly selected. Data were obtained through self-administered questionnaires, depth interview, and measurements of body weight and height using digital scales and microtoise. Bivariate analysis was performed by using a chi-square statistical test. The univariate analysis showed that the prevalence of nutrition science female college students with irregular menstrual cycle was 68,2%. The result of chi-square test showed significant correlation between nutritional status (p-value = 0,000), physical activity (p-value = 0,003), and stress level (p-value = 0,003) with menstrual cycle. The conclusion obtained in this study were there was a significant correlation between nutritional status, physical activity, and stress level with menstrual cycle on Nutrition Science female college students of Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta
